It is August and that means….. its about that time. Professors are preparing syllabuses for instruction. One of the questions I work to answer is how to help students apply what they’ve learned. Because I teach about race, culture, gender, disability, and class (among other difficult to discuss topics), students voice frustration that they may say “the wrong thing.” They also get concerned that they know how to talk about something in class, but do not know how to apply it outside of class.
